Every 5 minutes a patient dies from a healthcare-associated infection

Surfaces can transmit microbes that cause deadly infections and are a severe threat to public health. The Healthcare Surfaces Institute is dedicated to stopping this hidden threat, but we NEED YOUR HELP.

HAI Survivor Story: Mary Millard

Mary Millard went into the hospital for heart surgery and left with an antibiotic-resistant HAI that requires a lifetime of treatment and medical supervision – caused by a contaminated surface.

The time is now to stop surface-related infections and deaths

The Healthcare Surfaces Institute (HSI) is the only organization to bring together global, multidisciplinary experts to focus on the threat surfaces present in our healthcare environment. HSI is working with manufacturers, researchers, healthcare providers and other experts in the field to change how surfaces are designed, manufactured, installed and maintained.
This will take everyone working together.

Surfaces can transmit microbes that cause deadly infections and are a serious threat to our health.

Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAIs):

HAIs are infections patients acquire while in a healthcare facility that are unrelated to the original medical care they received. The most common cause is pathogens on surfaces.

We develop sustainable solutions to stop HAIs in their tracks. Join us!

Case Studies

Real-world scenarios that examine the root causes of HAI transmission via surfaces and our findings on how these problems can be successfully addressed.

Webinars

Our on-demand webinars address how contaminated surfaces contribute to the spread of microbes that cause deadly infections and how this can be prevented.

Certification

Currently, there are no scientific-based standard testing requirements for effective, safe surface disinfection compatibility. We are going to change that.
